What a TagAudit report looks like

Last checked

Every scan returns one report: the tools found and whether each one fired, what fired on a visit where the cookie banner was declined (or left unanswered where there is no reject control), which visitor actions produced a measurement, and the problems found, ranked. The three examples below are illustrative, built on fictional or anonymised sites, so you can see the format before you run a scan.

The free scan report

The free scan needs only a public URL and nothing installed. This example shows what it returns:

  • The stack, named and verified: each analytics, advertising, replay and consent tool present on the page, with its account or container id, and whether it fired during the visit.
  • Consent behaviour: what fired on a visit where the cookie banner was declined, or left unanswered where there is no reject control.
  • The interaction gap: the page was scrolled, clicked and its form fields filled without submitting, and the report shows which of those actions reached analytics and which produced nothing.
  • The top problems, ranked. In the free report the fixes themselves are locked; the full fix list comes with the Pro Scan.

The Pro Scan report

The Pro Scan adds a funnel crawl, and the fixes are unlocked. This example is a fictional online bookstore running a tag manager, GA4, Meta and TikTok pixels, an email-marketing tool and a consent banner.

The GTM container diff

If you attach an exported Google Tag Manager container to a scan, the report reads the container and lists its tags, with each tag's type, ids, consent setting and status. This example is built from an anonymised container.

How is the score calculated?

The health score starts at 100 and loses points for each problem found, more for a serious problem than a minor one. When a scan cannot see enough of a site to score it fairly, the report says so and withholds the score. The score is there to compare a site with itself over time; the findings underneath it are what you act on.

What is not in a report

A report shows what the visitor's browser sent and when. It does not show server-to-server integrations, anything a form submission or a purchase would send (those actions are switched off in our current configuration, on every site), or the settings inside your analytics property. It is not a legal opinion on consent; it is the evidence that conversation needs.
